
Professor David Eisenstat is a medical school graduate of the University of Toronto and pursued clinical and research training at The Hospital for Sick Children (Toronto, Canada), the University of California, San Francisco and the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Before relocating to Melbourne, he was Professor and Chair, Department of Oncology, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada.
Since 2020, Prof Eisenstat has served as Director, Children’s Cancer Centre at the Royal Children’s Hospital, established the Cancer Flagship at Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI) and served as Group Leader in Neuro-Oncology, Stem Cell Medicine at MCRI. He has been an Honorary Professorial Fellow in the Department of Paediatrics at The University of Melbourne.
Prof Eisenstat co-led the Victorian Paediatric Cancer Consortium between 2021-2024, before it evolved into Children’s Cancer CoLab. He also established the Cancer Flagship at MCRI across six pillars: Cancer Biology and Genomics, Pharmacogenomics, Clinical Trials, Advanced Therapies, Survivorship, and Global Paediatric Oncology. He is the sole paediatric cancer representative of the Victorian Cancer Advisory Committee, Government of Victoria and is a member of the VCCC Alliance Board. Prof Eisenstat was recently appointed as the inaugural Children’s Cancer Foundation and My Room Children's Cancer Charity Chair in Childhood Cancer.
