Nelly Mohibi’s son was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma in 2018. Since her son's diagnosis, she has worked to improve childhood cancer outcomes.

Nelly is a first-generation migrant from Afghanistan and a survivor of family violence and forced marriage. Nelly's lived experiences have enabled her to advocate for many issues facing women, including family violence, sexual abuse, forced marriage, and the unique challenges faced by parents of children with cancer.

She has previously worked with Monash Health and is involved in advocacy projects with the Hudson Institute of Medical Research and My Room Children’s Cancer Charity. Her goal is to enhance community understanding of the unique and complex challenges faced by migrant and marginalised women.
