Colbey Alderson

Colbey Alderson was 10 years old when he was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma of the right humerus in December 2012. He has been cancer-free for over 10 years and is now pursuing a career as a registered nurse.
Colbey brings a unique male perspective to childhood cancer survivorship, advocating for patient rights and equitable care policies. Colbey is particularly concerned about gender disparities in how children are counselled about treatment and fertility impacts. Drawing from his experience with Ewing's sarcoma and long-term treatment effects, Colbey offers valuable insights into the physical and emotional aspects of cancer recovery and survivorship care. His dual perspective as both a survivor and a nurse enables him to contribute meaningfully to patient- and family-centred care initiatives.
